Assistant Principal

Ms. Josie Herrera is currently serving as the Assistant Principal at Edinburg Academy. She brings a wealth of experience in enhancing educator effectiveness and boosting student achievement, while also contributing to the enhancement of educator practices to ensure academic success, student growth, and college/career readiness for all learners. She has over 10 years of experience in education and previously taught at Betty Harwell Middle School during her tenure as ELAR and Social Studies Teacher in 6-8th grade. Ms. Herrera’s goal is to fulfill educational effectiveness and is driven to the focus on improving student performance across the board.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Texas Pan American in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in educational leadership from University of Rio Grande Valley.

Ms. Herrera has a proven track record of delivering personalized and targeted professional development opportunities for teachers, leaders, and educators, emphasizing the importance of setting high expectations and implementing effective instructional practices. Education is her passion.
